✅ Features that remain available
These functions continue to work normally both in the WhatsApp Business app and in Darwin AI:
Functionality | Available in the app | Available in Darwin AI |
Individual chats (1:1) | ✅ Yes | ✅ Yes |
Contacts | ✅ Yes | ✅ Yes |
In Darwin AI, 1:1 chats that have been active in the last 6 months can be synced, and messages are mirrored on both sides (app and platform).
⚠️ Features that will no longer be available or will change
Below are the functions that will no longer be available or that change once the number is connected to Darwin AI via API (coexistence).

Group chats | Remain in the app, but are not synced | ❌ No |
Disappearing messages | Disabled for all 1:1 chats | ❌ No |
View-once messages | Disabled | ❌ No |
Live location | Disabled | ❌ No |
Broadcast lists | Disabled. Existing ones can only be read | ❌ No |

Business tools (catalog, etc.) | Only available in the app | ❌ No |
Automated messages, labels, etc. | Only manageable from the app | ❌ No |

📌 Usage recommendations
To keep contact and conversation management centralized and efficient, we recommend your team handle interactions from the Darwin AI platform, where:
• The history of 1:1 conversations is preserved.
• The team can take over conversations initiated by the AI.
• All follow-up is performed in an integrated way.
Observed Issues in Coexistence
1) Response blocked by API even when the message is received
What it is: A Meta bug that occurs on lines connected with Coexistence. Even if the customer’s message arrives correctly and the session is open, Meta’s API may reject the send with no apparent reason.
Impact: The AI cannot reply via the API, even when the lead’s message is visible in the conversation.

2) Messages from WhatsApp for Windows don’t generate inbound
What it is: A Meta bug affecting all messages sent from the native WhatsApp for Windows app. These messages don’t generate the inbound/webhook to the line using Coexistence.
Impact: The AI can’t see the messages and can’t reply, even though the lead sees them as “sent”.
If you have questions about how this affects your support flow, contact the Darwin team via the WhatsApp group.
